Common Questions
Do I need POL or MATIC for gas?
Polygon Mainnet uses native POL to pay gas. The network still has Chain ID 137. Older interfaces may display MATIC as the token name.
Why is my wallet fee different from this estimate?
The estimate uses the current base fee and recommended priority fee. Your wallet also considers the actual contract call, gas required and a maximum fee buffer. Token and swap examples here use illustrative gas budgets.
Does a low blockspace load mean every transaction is cheap?
No. Load describes gas used relative to the block gas limit. Transaction cost also depends on the base fee, priority fee and gas required by the specific action.
Is Polygon having a network issue?
Check the official status page and your RPC provider. A delayed RPC response alone does not establish that the entire network is down.
Where do network fees go?
POL Value explains base-fee burn and priority-fee allocation. POL Staking covers staking rewards and fees awaiting funding.
POL supply, fee allocation and staking rewards.
Sources & methodology ↓
Polygon Gas Station supplies the base fee and recommended priority fee. Quotes update every 20 seconds and are marked outdated after two minutes. The maximum fee includes a buffer. Token transfers and swaps use example gas amounts. USD uses the POLTRACK price at 14:25:38 UTC.
POLTRACK measures transactions and gas from Polygon blocks and verified transaction receipts. Periods cover complete UTC days. Average transaction fee is total fees divided by transactions. The fee range shows daily averages. TPS measures observed activity; it is not maximum capacity.
Total, base and priority fees are summed over the selected period. USD uses each day’s POL price. Hourly fees cover the latest completed UTC hour. Annualized fees use the YTD daily average and calendar-year length; they are an estimate.
Block load is gas used divided by the gas limit of the quoted block, read through dRPC. Average block time comes from Gas Station. Wallet settings follow Polygon documentation. Public RPCs may apply rate limits. Service incidents are available on the official status page.
